Hi, my name is Jo, I’m 48 years old and live in Perth. I’m currently on the deeply personal journey of becoming a mum on my own — a dream I’ve held close to my heart for as long as I can remember. While I’m single, my life is full of love, stability, and the readiness to welcome a child.

I’ve always wanted to be a mother — but not too young. I wanted to see the world first, and I did. Then I built a career I’m proud of, working with the same company for the past 17 years. That journey led me into the FIFO lifestyle, which I embraced for many years. A few years ago, I made the choice to return to a more settled life and moved back to the Perth office, where I’ve enjoyed a greater sense of balance.

I come from a beautiful farming family, and growing up in the country gave me values that still guide me today — resilience, generosity, hard work, and a deep appreciation for community and kindness. I’m often described by my friends and family as someone who always puts others first — and they’re not wrong. Over the years, I’ve been the one to care for those I love, especially when my mum became seriously ill and we feared the worst. I was by her side for years of treatment and appointments, thankfully she is still with us. Not long after, I lost my beloved dad, and again, I found myself supporting my mum and siblings through that incredibly difficult time.

Throughout all of this, I worked full-time and kept showing up for others. But when things finally quietened down, I took a moment to reflect — and I realised it was time to show up for myself. I gave myself space to ask what I really wanted, and the answer was simple and clear: I want to be a mum.

I’ve taken steps toward that dream, including selecting three incredibly kind donors. Unfortunately, despite their generosity, the 20 eggs retrieved did not fertilise successfully. Only one embryo formed, and sadly, it didn’t make it to blastocyst stage. It was heartbreaking, but I’ve not lost hope.

To be entrusted with a donated embryo — a gift that holds so much love and possibility, would be the most extraordinary blessing. I know what a profound and selfless act this is, and I would carry that gift forward with deep gratitude and love.

I would love to know if there is anyone local in Perth, If you feel you might be able to help me on this journey, I would also travel to the East. If my story resonates with you in any way, I would be so grateful to hear from you.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read my story.

With warmth and heartfelt gratitude
Jo 💛
