We are Natalie (47) and Michael (48), from Tamworth NSW and we are looking for a special kind hearted selfless egg donor to gift us the joy of becoming parents.
A little bit about ourselves, we have been together for twelve years and happily married for ten. With us from the start it has been a case of opposites attract, Michael is a very outgoing person and will happily walk into a room full of strangers and walk out knowing everyone’s name and their story. I am the complete opposite, I’m shy at first but once people get to know me I’m a lifetime friend.
We are both in full time employment, Michael works in IT and has been in his current role for 18 years. I have been employed for 27 years in the Travel Industry as an Accounts Receivable Clerk so saying that I am loyal is a bit of an understatement.
As I work within the Travel Industry, traveling comes easy for us so luckily we enjoy doing it. We enjoy going to and exploring new places and doing things outside our comfort zones. Like the time when we kayaked around Roebuck Bay in Broome, fed sharks in Port Stephens, cycled the Rail Trail in Tumbarumba and just recently we have come back from a week in beautiful Port Douglas.
Michael enjoys all things Science Fiction, he is an avid reader and enjoys listening to and guest speaking on podcasts. Michael enjoys keeping fit with cycling, running, swimming and has just recently started running in Parkrun which I sometimes attend, other times I’m just there at the finish line, cheering him on. When he isn’t doing any of these, you can catch him in the kitchen experimenting on his most requested sweet, Rocky Road. My favourite one to date is Tim Tam Rocky Road closely followed by the Toblerone one, he also makes a mean Cheesecake.
He enjoys spending time with family and being a fantastic uncle to his nieces. Like the time he was sat down by one of them with a Cabbage Patch Doll in one hand and a teacup in the other. ( I have picture proof) It’s these traits as well as Michael’s ease with children that I believe in my heart of hearts he will one day make a wonderful father as he has a great rapport with kids.
I am a very family orientated person, I love being around family, whether it be just visiting immediate family here in Tamworth or visiting extended ones in Sydney. My music tastes are very wide, although my favourite singer of all time is Olivia Newton John which is fitting as you could probably guess my favourite movie. I was devastated to hear of her passing of Breast Cancer, a disease that has devastated our family, having lost my mum to it 7 years ago.
I enjoy doing the occasional jigsaw puzzle. I am currently trying to finish an 80’s puzzle then I plan on starting a Wizard of Oz puzzle. I enjoy reading Biographies, I have just finished reading Brittney Spears The Woman in Me. I keep fit by going for walks, and enjoy going for a ride on my e-bike either by myself or with Michael.
We both come from loving and supportive families, I am the youngest of 2 and Michael is the eldest of 4. We have 4 nieces (ages 20,17, 7 and 5) that we would do absolutely anything for and have a great relationship with them all especially the youngest ones even though they live in Wagga and we don’t see them as much as we’d like. We would love to have the opportunity to have our own kids so we can have the same experiences our siblings have had and have been gracious enough to share with us.
Our IVF journey began in March 2017 after many years of trying to fall naturally. That time my body didn’t respond to the fertility medications and we had the cycle canceled. My personal belief is that I was not in a good spot having just lost my Mum in August the previous year to Breast Cancer.
In 2018 we decided to try IVF again. This time we made it all the way to the transfer on day 5, however the embryo did not blastocyst and did not take. In 2020 we changed fertility clinics and unfortunately due to my low AMH and poor egg quality IVF with my own eggs would most likely be unsuccessful and rather than continuing trying with IVF, our new fertility specialist suggested we try using donor eggs.
In 2022 we did our first donor cycle, 11 eggs collected resulting in 2 embryos, one was transferred and unsuccessfully did not result in pregnancy. After testing the MTHFR gene it was found I had a heterozygous mutation of both genes so I was put on active folic acid.
Unfortunately our frozen transfer early in 2023 was also not successful so our donor kindly offered to do a cycle again. In September last year, we did our last donor cycle, 5 eggs were collected then we received the heartbreaking news that none of those eggs collected were viable to use. This totally devastated us and we have taken some time to recover and discuss with our fertility specialist our next step.
We would prefer someone between the ages of 25-35 years. As our specialist, Dr Andrew Hedges is located at Hunter IVF, we would prefer our donor to reside in NSW, however this is not written in stone as our previous donor was from WA. In our mind the right person is the right person.
We intend to be very open with our child from an early age on how they were conceived, we want to make sure that they fully understand the beautiful selfless gift that a special lady did for us.
We would love nothing more for you and your family to become a part of our family, but we also respect your wishes on the level of contact you would like to have with us and our child.
We are happy to pay all costs incurred and are financially secure and available to start the process when we have found that special lady.
We thank you for taking the time to read our story.
Natalie & Michael
